State of mind and the past

These characters are from my personal abstract comic 'serendipity' 

this is 'state of mind' and 'past self'.

Lately , I got a bit of feedback and sadly not everyone gets the symbolism. 

A friend of mine said that I shouldn't explain and let them think for themselves.

I agree. though it pains me that sometimes it's just taken as a surface story. ><
